Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 617 asked in the Legislative Council on 2 September 2021 by Hon James Hayward

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

HOMELESSNESS SERVICES — BUNBURY

617. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the Minister for Regional Development:

I refer to the South West Development Commission.

(1) Can the minister confirm that the SWDC is in possession of a report on the possible future use of the old Bunbury fire station on Forrest Avenue?

(2) If yes to (1), will the minister table the report; and, if not, why not?

(3) Can the minister advise what plans or proposals currently exist on the future use of the old Bunbury fire station?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question.

(1)–(3) Yes, in 2020 the South West Development Commission commissioned a small consultation on rough sleepers in Bunbury. I am advised that the report contains commercial-in-confidence material that makes it inappropriate to table. As far as I am aware, there are no active plans or proposals on the future use of the old Bunbury fire station. In response to the member's question without notice 563, the Minister for Community Services set out the investment that our government is making to address homelessness in the Bunbury area.
