Question Without Notice No. 583 asked in the Legislative Council on 11 June 2020 by Hon Robin Scott

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on 11 June 2020

CORONAVIRUS — BUILDING BONUS

583. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:

I refer to the Premier's announcement on 9 June 2020 that eastern states fly in, fly out workers would be eligible to access our state's $20 000 building bonus grant.

(1) Will it be a condition that the building bonus grant be spent on building in a regional town; and, if not, why not?

(2) Will it be a condition that the eastern states person remains for a minimum period of time; if so, how long; and, if not, why not?

(3) If a family leaves before any minimum period, will there be any consequences; and, if so, how will the government enforce those consequences?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) Fly in, fly out workers who choose to relocate to Western Australia will need to meet the same requirements as any other applicants for the building bonus grant.
