Question On Notice No. 1065 asked in the Legislative Council on 20 March 2018 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Question Directed to the: Minister for Regional Development representing the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to your media statement of 24 July 2017 'Extra protections for park home residents in WA', and I ask:
(a) what is the status of the preparation of a bill, to give effect to the measures outlined in the media release;
(b) when does the Minister intend to introduce legislation to the Parliament; and
(c) given the Minister advised the Park Home Owners Association in July 2017 that 'this reform is a priority for me', are you satisfied with the progress of the legislative reforms outlined by you almost eight months ago?

Answered on 8 May 2018

(a) Parliamentary Counsel is drafting the Bill.

(b) Subject to drafting progress, Government anticipates introducing the Bill into the Parliament this year.

(c) Neither my office nor the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety have any un-actioned activities in relation to this legislation; we are awaiting the completion of drafting by Parliamentary Council. For this reason, I am satisfied with progress.
