YOUNG PEOPLE WITH
EXCEPTIONALLY COMPLEX NEEDS PROGRAM
1226. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the Young People with
Exceptionally Complex Needs program.
(1) How many young people are
currently participating in the YPECN program?
(2) How many young people are
currently on the YPECN waiting list?
(3) If there is
no waiting list for YPECN, how does the department track how many young people
require the support provided through YPECN?
(4) Has the review of YPECN been
completed?
(5) Who undertook this review?
(6) If yes to (4), will the minister
please table the review report?
(7) If no to (6), why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) There are 12 young people
participating in the program.
(2) The Young People with Exceptionally Complex Needs program
does not run a waitlist.
(3) This is due
to the changing circumstance for children in this cohort. Therefore, when a YPECN
placement becomes available, the Department of Communities places a call to
partner agencies to submit suitable referrals for allocation of the YPECN
placements, which may comprise those previously referred.
(4) Yes.
(5) Shelby Consulting undertook the
review.
(6) No.
(7) The Department of Communities is
currently reviewing and considering the recommendations.
