Question Without Notice No. 1196 asked in the Legislative Council on 22 November 2018 by Hon Nick Goiran

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

CHILD PROTECTION — CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE — ROEBOURNE

1196. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing Minister for Child Protection:

I refer to the revelations during the annual report hearings on 14 November 2018 that it was the expectation of the department that some of the six known perpetrators identified in Operation Fledermaus are attending the same school as their victims.

(1) Has the minister been briefed personally about this matter since those revelations were made at the annual report hearings?

(2) If yes to (1), did the minister or her staff receive any documents for the purpose of, or arising from, the briefings?

(3) If yes to (2), will the Leader of the House table the documents?

(4) Are the six known perpetrators being monitored by the department?

(5) Are the victims of the six known perpetrators being monitored by the department?

(6) If yes to (5), what is the number of those victims?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

The honourable member would be aware that I have been otherwise occupied for the last few hours. I saw the question and I saw a first version of the answer. I have not seen the final answer, so I give the member an undertaking that I will table it when we sit next week.
