SWAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL
SITE
1057. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to the former Swan District
Hospital site and the answer provided to question without notice 1344 asked on
6 December 2018.
(1) Has the
government lodged an application with the city to commence the rezoning of the
site; and, if not, why not?
(2) If yes to (1), when was the
application lodged and what is the requested rezoning of the site?
(3) Has the
government finalised its investigation into whether an opportunity exists to
make part of the site available to the adjoining college; and, if yes, what is
the outcome of this investigation?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided on behalf
of the Minister for Lands. I know this was asked last month, so I am not sure
that the answer will make a difference.
(1) Yes.
(2) The
application was lodged on 17 April 2019 for the site to be rezoned from public
purpose hospital to special use, residential R60, private clubs and
institutions and public open space.
(3) Yes. A
contract has been entered into with La Salle College to acquire a portion of
the site. The land will transfer subject to rezoning. The portion of the Swan
District Hospital that will be transferred to La Salle College will be used to
construct student accommodation to provide the opportunity for Aboriginal
students from the Kimberley to attend the college.
