NATIONAL DISABILITY
INSURANCE SCHEME — TRANSITION
731. Hon
PETER COLLIER to the Minister
for Disability Services:
I refer to the $20 million fund in
the 2018–19 budget to assist the disability sector in Western Australia
to transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Will the
distribution of the funds be through a competitive tender process, grants or
some other mechanism?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the
Opposition. In fact, he did not give me any notice, so I thank him for the
question but not for not giving me any notice.
I am not sure whether the member is
aware, but phase 1 of the transition fund is out at the moment. Expressions of
interest were called for stage 1, so that is being worked on. An independent
panel is working through each applicant who has put in an EOI. I think that the
decision will go to the next Disability Services Commission board meeting in September
and following that, it will be announced. That is a competitive process. Stage 2
of the transition fund has not been decided on yet.
