Question

(1) Will the Minister please table all current contracts of sale that exist between sawmills and the Forest Products Commission for the purchase of native forest logs, including the contract name/sawmill; contract number; product (species and grade or type of product); quantity per annum; current expiry date; and final expiry date?

(2) If no to (1), why not?

(3) Will the Minister please table all contracts with contractors for the logging of native forests?

(4) If no to (3), why not?

(1) The Forest Products Commission (FPC) currently has 39 native forest contracts of sale with sawmillers. The below summary addresses the requested information.

Regarding copies of contracts, the first section of each of the below contracts comprises general provisions that are standard across the native forest contracts, while the last 10 pages are the schedules specific to that buyer. A copy of the native forest contract of sale template is provided for tabling

· Contracted units of '0' include products that are interchangeable with other awarded quantities, or that are delivered subject to availability and have no minimum allocation.

· Firewood and residue type products have been included as the customer either recovers/sawmills the higher quality portions, or, is a recognised sawmiller and buyer of higher quality native forest products.

(2) Not applicable.

(3) The FPC currently has 6 native forest harvesting contracts. The first section of each of these contracts comprises general provisions that are standard across the native forest contracts, while the last 10 pages are the schedules which are specific to that contractor. A copy of the native forest harvesting contract template is provided for tabling.
