EDUCATION —
REGIONAL LEARNING SPECIALISTS
689. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the government's
election commitment to allocate regional learning specialists to work with year
11 and year 12 students at regional schools.
(1) Have all
positions been filled; if yes, when; and, if not, when are they expected to be
filled?
(2) Will the
minister table the relevant job description for these specialist positions;
and, if not, why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The recruitment process is nearing completion. Of
the eight regional learning specialist positions, offers of employment have
been made for seven: six of the seven specialist teacher positions and the
level 3 school administrator position. Letters of offer were sent to the
successful applicants on 24 August 2018. The breach period will conclude on 30
August 2018. The eighth position will be filled initially on a short-term
contract. The Department of Education is currently in the process of
identifying an English teacher with the necessary expertise for the position. A
suitable English specialist teacher was not identified during the selection
process. This position will be readvertised during term 4 of 2018.
(2) I have the
job description form for the school administrator level 3 position. Teachers do
not have a job description form. Relevant advertisements identify the
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers as the reference for assessing
applications and outline any specific contextual background for teacher
positions. I table the attached papers.
