LAW REFORM COMMISSION OF
WESTERN AUSTRALIA — BUDGET
1339. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Leader of the House
representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the Western Australian
Law Reform Commission 2018–19 annual report.
(1) Does the
Attorney General support the proposal by the Law Reform Commission to receive a
recurrent budget from which to remunerate members and conduct projects?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), when is it
anticipated that the commission will be granted a recurrent budget?
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
Department of Justice continues to provide administrative support to the Law
Reform Commission of Western Australia and
ensures that it has access to the necessary funding and resources to discharge
its statutory duties on a timely basis.
Future funding arrangements for the Law Reform Commission is subject to
further discussions between the two agencies and Treasury.
