STATE MORTUARY —
CT SCANNER
527. Hon
MICHAEL MISCHIN to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney
General:
What is the status of the
acquisition for the State Coroner of a computerised tomography scanner, first
announced by the Attorney General in an article in The Sunday Times of
16 July 2017, under the headline ''CT scanner to lift morgue work rate'',
and then again on 18 December 2017 in an article in The West Australian,
under the headline ''Scanner cuts need for autopsies'', and which
we were told on 10 October 2018 was due to be deployed and operational by
February 2019?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I
thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I am delighted to
provide the following information.
The CT scanner was delivered to the
State Mortuary in April 2019 and has been installed in the refurbished
accommodation within the State Mortuary. A certificate of practical completion
was signed on 30 April 2019 and the unit underwent the necessary acceptance
testing on 29 April 2019. Staff training commenced on 29 April 2019 and the CT
scanner is now in operation.
