FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT
LINK — SOIL CONTAMINATION
1293. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to my question without
notice 1254 asked on 24 October this year—it is the government's
Roundup!—on PFAS-contaminated soil excavated from the Forrestfield–Airport
Link project.
(1) What specific
site on the Perth Airport estate is the Public Transport Authority negotiating
with Perth Airport Pty Ltd to utilise for excess fill from the FAL project?
(2) On what
specific sites on the Perth Airport estate is Perth Airport Pty Ltd ''interested
in utilising excess fill from the FAL project'' and in what volumes?
(3) What environmental assessments
have been made on each of those sites?
(4) Has a site-specific
risk assessment been done on any of those sites; and, if so, which ones, and can
the minister please table those assessments?
(5) What
assessments of those locations have been sent to the commonwealth Department of
Environment and Energy, and what has been the department's response to
those submissions?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(2) The locations within Perth Airport where excess
fill from the Forrestfield–Airport Link project may be used to facilitate developments consistent with the
airport master plan is a matter for Perth Airport in discussions with
the commonwealth. The volume of soil required by Perth Airport is also a matter
for Perth Airport. The Public Transport Authority understands that Perth
Airport has several sites under consideration.
(3)–(5) Environmental
assessment of the locations within Perth Airport where excess fill from the Forrestfield–Airport
Link project may be used to facilitate developments consistent with the airport
master plan is a matter for Perth Airport. The Public Transport Authority has
not made any environmental assessments or provided any environmental
assessments to the commonwealth Department of Environment and Energy, aside
from the site-specific risk assessment referred to in question without notice
1254 asked on 24 October 2019.
