END-OF-LIFE CHOICES LEGISLATION

193. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to the 23-page document distributed by the minister to a select group of members of Parliament entitled ''The facts about voluntary assisted dying: Responding to the anti-VAD arguments''.

(1) Have you read the document?

(2) Do you endorse the content of the document?

(3) Are you aware that at page 22 it is stated that ''the final legislation will be based on the Joint Select Committee recommendations and the Victorian legislation. It will contain an armada of more than 60 provisions to ensure impeccable standards of conduct''?

(4) Further to (3), what are the 60 provisions?

Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) I am aware of the document referred to.

(2) I have not read the document.

(3) No. The ministerial expert panel will provide advice to the government in due course, which will inform the Western Australian legislation based on the best available evidence and reflect the needs of our diverse state and its people.
