1027. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the minister representing the Minister for Corrective Services:

(1) Will the Attorney General confirm a report in The West Australian of 26 October that the Department of Corrective Services pleaded guilty to failing to take reasonable care to ensure the safety and health of a person who was not an employee in the course of a prosecution by WorkSafe WA following the death of a prisoner?

(2) Will the Attorney General confirm that the WorkSafe WA Commissioner stated that the Department of Corrective Services had a poor workplace safety record over many years?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

The following answer is provided by the Minister for Corrective Services, not the Attorney General as indicated in the question. The former Department of Corrective Services was merged with the Department of the Attorney General into the Department of Justice on 1 July 2017. The following answer refers to the former Department of Corrective Services.
