Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 513 asked in the Legislative Council on 17 August 2021 by Hon Sophia Moermond

Minister responding: Hon S.M. Ellery
Parliament: 41 Session: 1

Answered on

PRIVATE SCHOOLS — WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS

513. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer the minister to OH3597 SHARP, Christine Verbatim transcript.pdf (parliament.wa.gov.au). Are criminal history screenings performed for staff working in private schools in Western Australia?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

The standards that apply to non-government schools require all staff and volunteers to have a current working with children check, which includes criminal history screening.
