JUVENILE OFFENDERS — MONITORING

461. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

I refer to the minister's response to question without notice 216 in which the minister informed the house that 60 reportable offenders under the age of 18 are being monitored in WA.

(1) Who performs this monitoring?

(2) Is this monitoring undertaken daily, weekly or monthly?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.

(1)–(2) The Western Australia Police Force advises that the monitoring of reportable offenders in Western Australia is undertaken by the Western Australia Police Force sex crime division and operational police in both the metropolitan region and regional WA. The monitoring of reportable offenders is ongoing and the frequency of interaction will vary on a case-by-case basis.
