Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 560 asked in the Legislative Council on 16 June 2022 by Hon James Hayward

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

PERTH–BUNBURY FASTER RAIL BUSINESS CASE

560. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the announcement to engage KPMG to develop a strategic business case for faster rail to Bunbury.

(1) Has the federal government's Perth–Bunbury faster rail business case been completed?

(2) If no to (1), why is another business case being developed by KPMG when the first one has not been completed?

(3) If yes to (1), will the KPMG business case leverage the work already completed by the federal government study?

(4) Will the minister table the terms of reference provided to KPMG to guide its investigations?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

(1)–(3) The Perth–Bunbury faster rail business case is a joint state and federal government initiative. Only one business case is being prepared.

(4) The scope of work being undertaken by KPMG can be accessed in tender documents, which are publicly available.
