Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 575 asked in the Legislative Council on 6 June 2019 by Hon Donna Faragher

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

AGRICULTURE — PRIMED PROJECT

575. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:

I refer to the minister's answer to question without notice 556 asked yesterday regarding the PRIMED project.

(1) Who is preparing the business case and what is the time line for its completion?

(2) Is the $5 million a budget allocation to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development; and, if not, which department has received this budget allocation?

(3) Which department will be responsible for the delivery of the project?

(4) When will the project commence in WA schools?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question.

(1) A business plan is being prepared by the PRIMED project team—the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, the Department of Education, and the Department of Training and Workforce Development—and is expected to be completed in the next few months.

(2) The Departments of Primary Industries and Regional Development; Education; and Training and Workforce Development have each committed funding from within their existing budget allocations to deliver the project jointly and in partnership with industry.

(3) The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is the lead agency, with the Department of Education and the Department of Training and Workforce Development as partners.

(4) It will commence in 2020.
