Answered on

MIDLAND WORKSHOPS SITE

168. Hon CHARLES SMITH to the minister representing the Treasurer:

I refer to the buildings known as the old Midland railway workshops.

(1) Who currently owns these buildings?

(2) Are there plans to sell or lease these buildings?

(3) If yes to (2), will the minister please list the entities they are being leased or sold to and what sale or tendering processes were followed?

(4) What is the current value of these state assets as per the last valuation?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Lands.

(1) The buildings are owned by DevelopmentWA with the exception of lot 741 Yelverton Drive, which is crown land and managed by the Department of Lands.

(2)–(3) Following a public tender process, blocks 2 and 3 are under conditional contract with Australian Capital Equity. Discussions are being held with the City of Swan and other government agencies on the future tenure or management of specific assets.

(4) There are no current valuation reports.
