Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 457 asked in the Legislative Council on 10 August 2021 by Hon Dr Brad Pettitt

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

CLIMATE CHANGE — EMISSIONS TARGET

457. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the Minister for Climate Action:

I refer to the minister's foreword in the Western Australian climate policy, which states —

Western Australia's greenhouse gas emissions are rising, and are expected to grow in the short to medium term under business as usual.

(1) What are Western Australia's expected greenhouse gas emissions for 2025, and what data is this based on?

(2) Will the minister please table the modelling or data containing this information?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Climate Action.

(1)–(2) Australia's national emissions projections are compiled by the commonwealth Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources to provide sector-specific analysis of factors driving emissions at a national level. The commonwealth does not publish state and territory emissions projections.
