I refer to the Surrogacy Act 2008, and I ask in each calendar year since enactment how many child protection order checks have been carried out on:
(a) arranging parents; and
(b) any other party to a surrogacy arrangement?

The Department of Health advises:
(a-b) The Surrogacy Act 2008 does not require an arranged parent/s or any other party to a surrogacy arrangement to undergo a child protection order check.
