COMMUNITIES — RESIDENTIAL GROUP HOMES
254. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the article titled ''How a WA boy in Child
Protection's care raped other teens on government's watch''
published on WAtoday on 27 May 2021.
(1) How many residential group homes are providing
out-of-home care for children in our state?
(2) How many are in the Perth metropolitan region?
(3) Further to parts (1) and (2), how many are operated by
the department?
(4) What is
the current number of children living in such group homes and how many are
living in group homes operated by the department?
(5) How many
children displaying inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviours are currently
being housed with other children in government-run residential group homes?
Hon SAMANTHA ROWE replied:
I thank the member for some notice of the question. I provide

addition to this, Communities funds 40 family group homes contracted through
community service organisations.

residential group homes are operated by the Department of Communities across Western
Australia.
(4) As at 15 June 2021, there are 99 children living
