LANDGATE — PRIVATISATION
      296. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the Minister for Lands:
I refer to the potential privatisation of Landgate.
      (1) Information held by Landgate is essential for rural and urban planning, flood mitigation, fire management et cetera. Will the government guarantee the continued supply of crucial datasets to other government departments at no cost?
      (2) Landgate's land information is archived so that historical data can be retrieved if required. How will archived data be protected under the privatised model?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) No decisions on the future of Landgate have been made. All matters regarding access to data and information will be considered as part of the government's consideration of this matter.
