Question On Notice No. 436 asked in the Legislative Council on 31 October 2017 by Hon Alison Xamon
Question Directed to the: Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Question
I refer to the Coroner’s recommendation that "all children [other than successful long term foster placements] transferred from one location to another have a case worker", and I ask:
(a) does the Government support this recommendation;
(b) if no to (a), why not;
(c) if yes to (a), what action has the Government taken to address this recommendation; and
(d) if no action has been taken, why not?
Answered on 5 December 2017
(a) Yes.
(b) Not applicable
(c) Practice guidance requires that case transfer of children in care and case management follows the child. A case worker must be allocated for the child, to ensure case management is focussed on the child.
(d) Not applicable
