Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 528 asked in the Legislative Council on 4 June 2019 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

SYNERGY — MUJA C AND D CAPITAL WORKS PROGRAM

528. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Energy:

I thank the Minister for Energy for realising there was a typo in my original question and making contact with me, allowing me to provide the appropriate question.

I refer to the funding for Muja C and D on page 664 of budget paper No 2, volume 2.

(1) Will the minister provide a list of the work to be undertaken on Muja C and D for each of the years —

(a) 2019–20;

(b) 2020–21;

(c) 2021–22; and

(d) 2022–23?

(2) Did Synergy consider the expected remaining life of Muja C and D prior to committing funding to undertake these works?

(3) If yes to (2), what is the expected remaining life of Muja C and D?

(4) Was a business case prepared to justify the over $40 million in capital works; and, if yes, will the minister table the business case?

(5) If no business case was prepared, what documentation was prepared before the funding was committed?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Energy.

It is not possible to provide the information in the time required and I therefore ask the honourable member to place this question on notice.

I am happy to see whether there is a way to get an answer earlier.
