Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FOREST PRODUCTS COMMISSION — PAYMENTS
      444. Hon DIANE EVERS to the minister representing the Minister for Forestry:
I refer to question without notice 1048, asked on 22 September 2016.
(1) How much money, by item, has the Forest Products Commission given since 1 July 2016 to the —
      (a) WA Forest Communities Network; and
      (b) Forest Industries Federation of WA?
(2) In relation to (1), by item, what was the purpose of the funding?
      (3) Does this government intend to give money to the WAFCN and/or the FIFWA in the future; and, if so, how much, and for what purpose?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for the question. The Minister for Forestry has provided the following information.
(1) Payments made by the Forest Products Commission since 1 July 2016 are —
      (a) WA Forest Communities Network, nil; and
      (b) Forest Industries Federation of WA, $2 421.
(2) It was for seminar attendance fees for industry events, $1 454; and scientific consultants, $967.
      (3) The FPC expects to continue to collaborate with the timber industry, including the Western Australian Forest Communities Network and the Forest Industries Federation of Western Australia, on jointly funded projects that might require some transfer of funds. There are no specific budgetary items for these industry bodies.
