FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

713. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence:
I refer to the government's
commitment to establish a second Communicare Breathing Space, a commitment that
is supported by the opposition.
(1) In which suburb will this take
place?
(2) In what month is it scheduled
to be operational?
(3) Is the
minister aware of significant disquiet in the local community about the lack of
consultation undertaken by the government?
(4) What was the community
consultation process undertaken by the government?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) It will be in Maylands.
(2) It is scheduled to be
operational in July 2019.
(3) I am aware of
feedback from the local community. Both Communicare and the Department of
Communities are engaging with the local community to address the issues raised.
(4) The community
engagement approach was informed by the success of the Breathing Space Calista
service and the well-established relationship Communicare has with the local
Calista community. Communicare is leading the engagement and will continue to
talk with the local community, provide information and support regular
communication throughout the delivery of the service.
