Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 1191 asked in the Legislative Council on 21 November 2018 by Hon Colin Tincknell

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

METROPOLITAN REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY — 3 OCEANS TWIN TOWERS DEVELOPMENT —SCARBOROUGH

1191. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:

I refer to the Scarborough redevelopment scheme of September 2017 that covers the development contribution plan and area. The rate of contribution within the area is applied at a gradually increasing rate per square metre relative to the height of the development.

(1) At what rate per square metre has the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority applied the development contribution to the 3 Oceans development?

(2) If the rate is the same as for that of a 12-storey development, at $100.93, why was there no increase in the rate relative to the increased height allowance?

(3) What is the total development contribution amount being paid by 3 Oceans for the Scarborough development?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) The development contribution liability on the 3 Oceans development has been calculated based on $100.93 per square metre of developable area.

(2) The development contribution payment is set on the per square metre of developable area, excluding land required for road widening. The payment is set at different rates depending on the base height limit identified under the ''Scarborough Development Contribution Plan''. Note that there are other works required to be funded by the developer in accordance with the conditions of approval issued by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority.

(3) It is $734 366.68.
