BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD — BLACK COCKATOOS
773. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Transport:
My
question without notice for which some notice has been given is to the minister
representing the Minister for Environment.
(1) How many
hollows were blocked to prevent breeding, as per the Black cockatoo action
management plan for the Bunbury Outer Ring Road?
(2) Were any of the 13 trees
identified with nest hollows not blocked?
(3) Were any of
these hollows identified as having occupation of eggs and/or chicks as per the preclearing
fauna assessment?
(4) Has a suitably
experienced zoologist or environmental scientist been identified who is on site
during clearing of breeding habitat to maintain radio communication with
machinery operators and halt clearing if necessary?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I am giving the member this answer representing
the Minister for Transport. The member referred to the Minister for
Environment. It may have been transferred between offices. In any event, it was
the same question.
(1)–(3) No hollows have
been blocked or had any sign of use.
(4) Fauna specialists are on site
during clearing.
