Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 693 asked in the Legislative Council on 12 October 2017 by Hon Jacqui Boydell

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

''DRAFT GASCOYNE MASTER PLAN''
      693. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the ''Draft Gascoyne Master Plan'' rolled out by the previous state government and the final plan that was supposed to be delivered by May 2017.
      (1) Given the project information is still contained on the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation's website, but responsibility for Water for Food projects has been absorbed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, which minister and department has carriage of this project?
      (2) Why has the final plan not been completed in line with the original anticipated delivery date of May 2017?
      (3) Has the Gascoyne Development Commission's new chief executive been briefed on the project as a matter of priority and what ongoing role will the GDC play in the project?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
(1)–(3) I do not know whether the member is aware that there has been a change of government and we are obviously going to be re-looking at priorities. We do not have a new CEO of the Gascoyne Development Commission; the existing CEO of the Gascoyne Development Commission continues in his role. We are working very, very closely with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage to make sure that the rollout of the additional land continues.
