Question On Notice No. 1376 asked in the Legislative Council on 12 June 2018 by Hon Alison Xamon
Question Directed to the: Minister for Environment representing the Minister for Planning
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Question
I
refer to the Ministerial Statement regarding the tabling of Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) Amendment
1308/41, in which it was stated that four areas that were originally proposed
to be reserved as parks and recreation in a future MRS amendment would now be
included in the amendment area as urban deferred, and I ask:
(a) are
these the areas contiguous with Bush Forever sites that were originally
excluded from the amendment area;
(b) could
the Minister please table the report/advice from the investigations that
confirmed that it was appropriate for these areas to be included in the urban
deferred zone; and
(c) could the Minister please explain why zoning these areas as park and recreation was not done during this amendment process?
Answered on 21 August 2018
(a) Yes
(b) This advice is contained within the Metropolitan Region Scheme Amendment No. 1308/41 Report on Submissions (tabled paper no. 1369).
(c) The proposed East Wanneroo District Structure Plan will further consider environmental values and identify areas for open space and/or environmental protection, where appropriate.
