INDUSTRIAL MANSLAUGHTER

1048. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the minister representing the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations:

(1) Will a future work health and safety bill introducing an industrial manslaughter offence equally protect persons who are not employees and people who are employees?

(2) Will a future work health and safety bill introducing an industrial manslaughter offence equally apply penalties to senior public servants and ministers and to directors of companies?

I thank the member for the question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations.

(1)–(2) The government is currently considering introducing industrial manslaughter in the future work health and safety bill.
