Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 513 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 September 2017 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

SHIRE OF KALAMUNDA — DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT, SPORTAND CULTURAL INDUSTRIES — ADVICE
      513. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Local Government:
Although this is a lengthy question, the answers are fundamentally yes or no responses, or else I would not have asked the question in this form.
I refer to the article in the Midland Reporter on 29 August 2017 entitled ''Mayor fights back''.
      (1) Did the manager of governance at the Shire of Kalamunda seek advice from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, as outlined in the article?
(2) If yes to (1), on what date was this advice sought?
(3) If yes to (1), what was the specific query or queries raised by the manager of governance?
      (4) If yes to (1), did the department provide a response to that request for advice; and, if so, was the response written and/or verbal?
(5) If yes to (1), on what date did the department respond?
(6) If yes to (1), what was the advice provided by the department?
      (7) If yes to (1), will the minister please table a copy of the initial request from the manager of governance and the response from the department?
(8) If no to (7), why not?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(8) The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is currently reviewing a complaint relating to the Shire of Kalamunda. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to comment until that review is concluded.
