Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 375 asked in the Legislative Council on 15 August 2017 by Hon Diane Evers

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FOREST PRODUCTS COMMISSION — PAYMENTS
      375. Hon DIANE EVERS to the minister representing the Minister for Forestry:
I refer to question without notice 1048 asked on 22 September 2016.
      (1) How much money by item did the Forest Products Commission provide directly or indirectly in the 2016–17 financial year to —
          (a) the Forest Industries Federation WA;
          (b) the WA Forest Communities Network;
          (c) Forest and Wood Products Australia Ltd; and
          (d) any other timber or forestry industry organisation, and please name any that apply?
      (2) With reference to the total of $13 580 given by the FPC to FIFWA and the WAFCN during the period from mid-2012 to mid-2016, what was the intended purpose of these payments?
      (3) In relation to (2), what evidence did the two named organisations, which I note have the same Australian business number and business address, provide of having spent the money as intended?
      (4) Does this government intend to continue giving money to FIFWA, WAFCN or other timber or forestry industry organisations; and, if so, by item, which ones, how much and for what purpose?
Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:
I thank the member for notice of the question. The Minister for Forestry has advised that due to the amount of information that is required, it has simply not been possible to provide an answer in the time available and he asks that the question go on notice.
