EDUCATION — ABORIGINAL
GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN — ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
1181. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I
refer to the minister's press release titled ''Supporting
Aboriginal girls to succeed in school and beyond'', which states that $11.6 million will be committed over four
years from 2021 to public schools for a variety of engagement programs.
(1) Will the minister list each of
the programs that will be supported under this initiative?
(2) For each of these programs, will
the minister provide a breakdown of funding to be delivered in —
(a) 2021;
(b) 2022;
(c) 2023; and
(d) 2024?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Department of Education is undertaking a procurement
process to appoint a panel of service providers from 2022 to deliver ongoing engagement programs for Aboriginal girls
and young women. Until the panel is
in place, arrangements will be made with current providers to ensure continuity
of services. In 2019–20, the Department of Education provided
funding to Glass Jar Australia Ltd, Shine Inspire Achieve Belong Incorporated,
the Wirrpanda Foundation, and Ricky Grace's Role Models and Leaders
Australia Girls Academy to deliver programs for young Aboriginal women in
schools.
(2) The new
funding announced as part of the 2020–21 budget comprises the
following: for 2020–21, $1.54 million;
for 2021–22, $3.169 million; for 2022–23, $3.267 million; and
for 2023–24, $3.668 million.
