Question

I refer to confirmation that the State Government has commissioned an engineering assessment of the Tier 3 railway lines in Western Australia, and I ask:

(a) when was a decision made and who made the decision;
(b) who has been appointed to undertake the assessment and on what date was the appointment made;
(c) what is the scope and cost of the engineering assessment;
(d) when will the engineering assessment be complete;
(e) will the report of the engineering assessment be made public;
(f) if no to (e), why not;
(g) will the Minister please table all advice provided to the Minister from her agencies in relation to the commission of the engineering assessment;
(h) did the Public Transport Authority recommend to the Minister that an assessment should be commissioned; and
(i) how much of the $30 million committed by the then Labor Opposition to Tier 3 railways has been spent to date?
Answered on 13 August 2020

(a) The Minister for Transport approved the Public Transport Authority commissioning an engineering assessment of the Tier 3 lines in March 2020.

(b) Agonis Group, 18 May 2020.

(c) The engineering assessment will analyse all Tier 3 lines and consist of field inspections and an analysis of asset information against required performance standards; $250,000.

(d) In the coming months.

(e) The results of the assessment will be published.

(f) Not applicable

(i) The member is referring to a commitment made by the Labor Party prior to the 2013 State Election. The member may recall that the Labor Party did not win that election.
