Question Without Notice No. 561 asked in the Legislative Council on 5 June 2019 by Hon Colin Tincknell

Minister responding: Hon R. Saffioti
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on

JOONDALUP DRIVE–WANNEROO ROAD INTERSECTION — OVERPASS BRIDGE

561. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the construction of an overpass bridge at the intersection of Joondalup Drive and Wanneroo Road. Justification for this overpass has been attributed to a request made by the City of Wanneroo to the state government.

(1) Can the minister please provide said request from the City of Wanneroo?

(2) Has a business case been put forward to the government or the City of Wanneroo; and, if so, can the minister provide the business case?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. There are no numbers in the question that I have, so the answer is in a block.

The state government's decision to commit funding to the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive interchange project was the result of a commitment made prior to the last state election. This project is a priority of both the state and commonwealth governments. The federal government provided an 80 per cent funding contribution to this project through the redirection of Perth Freight Link funding.

''Rapid Economic Analysis'' was commissioned in September 2017 and finalised in November 2017. This document is available on the Main Roads website. I table the attached document for the information of members.
