Question Without Notice No. 134 asked in the Legislative Council on 22 March 2018 by Hon Tjorn Sibma
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
LOCAL PROJECTS, LOCAL JOBS — CABINET APPROVAL
134. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the curiously indeterminate status of the Local Projects, Local Jobs program.
(1) Was the Treasurer correct when he described the $39 million Local Projects, Local Jobs program as a grants program in his budget speech of 7 September 2017?
(2) Was the member for Armadale correct when, in Parliament on 13 March 2018, he said of the process administering funds to various Local Projects, Local Jobs projects that it was not a grants program?
(3) Can the Premier reconcile these two contradictory statements concerning the Local Projects, Local Jobs program and confirm one way or the other whether it is a grants program?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) I refer to the response to Legislative Council question without notice 20 responded to on 13 March 2018 and the response to Legislative Council question without notice 42 responded to on 14 March 2018. The Local Projects, Local Jobs program represents the delivery of election commitments made to community organisations in the lead-up to the March 2017 election. The delivery of commitments is being managed through existing state government grant delivery processes and procedures, which include reporting and acquittal requirements.
