Parliamentary Questions

Question On Notice No. 1700 asked in the Legislative Council on 16 October 2018 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Question Directed to the: Minister for Regional Development
Parliament: 40 Session: 1
Tabled Paper No: 2203- View tabled paper

Question

I refer to the State's nine regional development commissions as established by the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993, and I ask:
(a) for each regional development commission please provide:
(i) the name and tenure of the CEO;
(ii) the name and tenure of each board member;
(iii) the date of each board meeting since 12 March 2017 to present;
(iv) a copy of the minutes from each board meeting identified in (iii); and
(v) a copy of the conflict of interest register for staff and board members?

Answered on 20 November 2018

(a) (i) – (iii)     [Please refer to attached Tabled Paper No…]

(a) (iv)             Given that Board minutes may contain commercially sensitive information or reveal the deliberative processes of the Minister or Cabinet, it is not appropriate to provide this information.  I would be happy to consider a more specific request if the Member has a particular area of concern that he would like to raise.

(a) (v)              The Regional Development Commissions proactively manage conflicts of interest as required under the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993 and the broader Public Sector governance framework.

                        Potential conflicts are managed at the Board level through member inductions and declarations and a standing agenda item at the beginning of each Board meeting. The actions taken to manage specific conflict of interest declarations are recorded in the minutes of the relevant Board meeting.

                        I do not consider it reasonable to table all conflict of interest declarations but would be happy to consider a more specific request if the Member has a particular area of concern that he would like to raise.
