CORONAVIRUS — VACCINATION CLINICS — SCHOOL
HEALTH NURSES
468. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the minister representing the
Minister for Health:
I refer to the redeployment of
school health nurses to COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
(1) How many
schools have had their access to school health nurses reduced as a result of
this redeployment?
(2) Have school health nurses been redeployed on a voluntary
basis; and, if not, what was the selection process?
(3) Have any child health nurses
been redeployed to COVID-19 vaccination clinics; and, if so, how many?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The
Department of Health has requested that the Department of Education assist with
the COVID-19 vaccination program. The
COVID-19 vaccination program is an important priority for the health and safety
of all Western Australians; therefore, all efforts need to be made to ensure
that the vaccination program continues to
build momentum so that we get as many Western Australians vaccinated as quickly
as possible. I can advise that some school nurses will assist the
COVID-19 vaccination blitz, and the Department of Education has advised that there will be minimal impact and these
changes present no risk to student safety.
