Question Without Notice No. 862 asked in the Legislative Council on 11 October 2022 by Hon Sophia Moermond

Minister responding: Hon R.H. Cook
Parliament: 41 Session: 1

Answered on

862. Hon SOPHIA MOERMOND to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Health:

Some overseas jurisdictions have begun to adjust COVID-19 vaccination schedules to actively exclude males aged 18 to 39 years in response to an abnormally high incidence of cardiac events.

(1) In light of this, has the minister been briefed on reputable new medical data coming from the United States on this matter?

(2) If new data shows long-term risks to people in this category, will vaccination requirements be adjusted in response?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) The minister is regularly briefed by the Department of Health on these matters.

(2) The WA government follows guidance provided by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation, ATAGI, on vaccination matters.
