271. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
(1) How many doctors are prescribing medical cannabis in Western Australia?
(2) How many different varieties of medical cannabis are legally available in Western Australia?
(3) What is the cost for the use of prescribed medical cannabis in Western Australia?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The Department of Health has provided the following response.
(1) As at 22 June 2017, the Department of Health has approved one practitioner to prescribe a cannabis-based product.
(2) At least three different cannabis-based products are known to be available from a locally approved product sponsor in Western Australia. Other approved products are on offer in other states and territories.
(3) The cost is dependent on the product and the dose for the condition being treated.
