ORTHOTIC AND PROSTHETIC
CLINICAL SERVICE VISITS — MINING AND PASTORAL REGION
817. Hon KEN BASTON to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the answers to question
without notice 784 asked on 8 August 2019 regarding the provision of orthotic
and prosthetic clinical service visits in the Mining and Pastoral Region.
(1) Can the
minister please confirm whether any clinical service visits to locations in the
Mining and Pastoral Region that were funded by the WA Country Health Service in
2018–19 will not be funded in 2019–20 and onwards?
(2) If yes to
(1), which clinical service visits funded by WACHS will not continue?
(3) If no to (1),
can the minister confirm whether the clinic provided by Orthotic Prosthetic
Solutions and funded by WACHS will continue; and, if not, will it be delivered
by another provider?
Hon ALANNA
CLOHESY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I am advised of the following.
(1) The WA
Country Health Service will continue to support visiting orthotic and
prosthetic services to locations in the Pilbara and Kimberley in 2019–20.
From 1 July 2020, WACHS will not continue to fund orthotic and prosthetic
services that are supported by other funding streams. WACHS will not withdraw
supports until an alternative funding strategy and service has been
established. WACHS will continue to provide inpatient and outpatient-related
services.
(2) From 1 July
2020, WACHS will not fund orthotic and prosthetic service visits that are
funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
(3) WACHS is
supporting Orthotics Prosthetic Solutions to continue to deliver services in
2019–20. From 1 July 2020, this service could be delivered by an
alternative provider.
