Parliament: 40 Session: 1

ABORIGINAL HERITAGE ACT — REVIEW

148. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:

I refer to the review team working on the drafting of amendments to the Aboriginal Heritage Act.

(1) When was the review team established and who were the members of the review team at the time of establishment?

(2) Who are the current members of the review team?

(3) How many members of the review team have resigned from the review team since its inception?

(4) Who were the people who resigned from the review team?

(5) What were the reasons provided for resignation by those people listed in (4)?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

(1)–(5) These are internal administrative matters for the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage in how it allocates resources to achieve the government's commitments to review the Aboriginal Heritage Act. This review has been ongoing since 2017, involving various public servants at different stages of the process.
