FOREIGN BUYERS SURCHARGE

Minister for Finance:
I refer to the McGowan government's
foreign property buyer surcharge.
(1) Does Landgate keep data on the
number of foreign buyer transactions?
(2) If yes to
(1), what is the number of foreign buyer transactions for the past five years,
broken down by established and new properties?
(3) Does the
Foreign Investment Review Board keep data on the number of purchases of new
properties in Western Australia by foreign nationals; and, if so, has the data
been provided to Treasury or the Department of Finance?
(4) If yes to
(3), what is the number of new properties that have been purchased by foreign
nationals in Western Australia over the past five years?

(3) No. The
Foreign Investment Review Board provides data only on approvals, and not all approvals
result in a purchase.
