Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 667 asked in the Legislative Council on 25 June 2019 by Hon Donna Faragher

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

CASTLETOWN PRIMARY SCHOOL

667. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the significant building maintenance and repair issues impacting Castletown Primary School in Esperance.

(1) Has the minister determined the reason for the significant discrepancy between the 2013 and 2018 building condition assessment reports in terms of school maintenance needs and funding required; and, if yes, will the minister provide more detail?

(2) Will the minister provide a breakdown of the maintenance works undertaken at the school since the 2013 BCA report was finalised, including total cost and date of completion?

(3) As part of the 2019–20 school maintenance budget, does the minister expect to provide additional funding for repairs at the school; and, if yes, will the minister provide a breakdown of the anticipated works to be undertaken; and, if not, why not?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

As the honourable member will be aware, this question was raised by Hon Colin de Grussa during the budget estimate hearings on 20 June 2019. At that time, I said that I would take the question on notice so that the issue could be investigated. I can advise that the investigation is underway.
