WORKING WITH CHILDREN (CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKING) ACT 2004 — REVIEW
      765. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the ''Working With Children Checks Report'' of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the 32 of the 36 recommendations that specifically relate to amending or changing state and territory legislation.
      (1) Does the government have plans to review the current Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004?
(2) If yes to (1), when is the review scheduled to be completed?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) Yes.
      (2) Discussions in relation to the standards recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse have commenced. Completion will be determined by the outcome of those discussions.
(3) Not applicable.
