Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 241 asked in the Legislative Council on 21 March 2019 by Hon Colin Holt

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

AUSTRALIND SERVICE

241. Hon COLIN HOLT to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the McGowan government's election promise to modernise the passenger experience and provide a more direct service for the Australind.

(1) When will the people of the south west receive their more direct service?

(2) What is a more direct service?

(3) When will the government be delivering the additional non-stop Australind service between Bunbury and Perth and vice versa?

(4) What consultation has occurred with the City of Bunbury and the local community to confirm a site for a train station closer to the city centre?

(5) When will this consultation be completed and an announcement made of the location of the new train station?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(5) Noting that the former government made no investment in the Australind service, this government is progressing its commitment to deliver a new Australind. The Public Transport Authority has also engaged a consultant to investigate a faster and more direct Australind service.
