Question Without Notice No. 732 asked in the Legislative Council on 31 October 2017 by Hon Tjorn Sibma

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

PUBLIC SECTOR MANAGEMENT — KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
      732. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the answer provided on 17 August 2017 to my question on notice 68 of 15 June concerning the government's promise to introduce key performance indicators, or KPIs, to force government agencies to work together and to measure the performance of department heads by linking 20 per cent of their salary to the achievement of those KPIs.
      (1) When will the public sector renewal program be expected to conclude its work in developing these KPIs, as was claimed in the answer?
      (2) Will cabinet make a decision about these KPIs and their implementation before the end of this calendar year?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The development of whole-of-government KPIs, or targets, will be informed by the service priority review, which is due to report in November 2017. It is anticipated that potential KPIs, or targets, will be provided to cabinet for initial consideration during 2018.
