FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT
LINK — SOIL CONTAMINATION
572. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to my questions of recent
months on PFAS-contaminated soil excavated from the Forrestfield–Airport
Link project.
(1) Has the minister or any of the minister's
staff met or had telephone discussions with former Peel Development
Commission deputy chair Mr Greg Poland in the last 12 months?
(2) If yes to (1), who initiated
the meetings or discussions, and what was the nature of the contact?
(3) Has the
minister or any of the minister's staff discussed with Mr Poland, in
any form, the potential disposal of PFAS-contaminated soil excavated from the
Forrestfield–Airport Link at any location?
(4) If yes to (3), which locations
for disposal were discussed?
(5) Did any of those locations
include the Peel region?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. From 5 June 2018 to 4 June 2019, based on the
inquiries able to be undertaken in the time available, the answer is as
follows.
(1) Yes.
(2) On 26 October
2018, there was a meeting with Greg Poland from the Strzelecki Group regarding
the Scarborough Beach redevelopment and the City of Nedlands local planning
scheme 3. The meeting request was received by the minister's office on
4 July 2018.

of Communities' landholdings. The meeting request was received by the

The minister has attended various
speaking engagements and various business events. If any matters relevant to
her portfolio are raised with the minister at such events, it is her practice
to refer or redirect such matters to her office for any follow-up.
(3)–(5) The minister refers
to her previous responses to questions on this matter.
